Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
I was in the closet crying, again. There was a lot going on in life and we all really needed a vacation. We booked a week at the beach but I was reluctant. I felt guilty. It’s not cheap and then the cost of food and activities….it really adds up. But we really wanted the time to reconnect as a family. So I started to pack….then, I made the mistake of looking at the weather forecast for our vacation area…
Sometimes, unfortunately, I can be a pessimist. I hate that about myself! I don’t want to be a downer. It’s just not natural for me to look at the glass half full. So, I cried. The forecast called for rain everyday. I felt like a googy crying but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was some sort of punishment. Maybe we shouldn’t be going…My husband happened to walk in and literally could not believe that weather was the reason why I was upset. I just so wanted to have the perfect get away and reconnect with my family.
He reassured me that rain does tend to pop up on coasts often, sometimes passes quickly, sometimes doesn’t happen at all. I knew that. I think I just had such high hopes for this getaway to be perfect.
In my mind, I know God doesn’t ‘punish’, although, we do suffer consequences as a result of our own choices. That’s why there are laws, right? With any prayer, great or small, Jesus promises to go to God on our behalf. He intercedes for us. That is not to say we cannot go to God directly but isn’t it great to think our own Jesus Christ is in our corner? On our side!
Who is in your corner today? I don’t always remember to rely on Christ first. Sometimes I try to handle things myself. Or question others…but when I think about life, which sometimes is like a fight, I picture a boxing ring! I picture Christ cheering me on as I fight that fear, worry, anxiety….fill in the blank.
So, remember, Jesus has your back. He’s at your side and before you, too. So knock out that challenge you’re facing and give it to God. Are you fighting for your marriage today? Jesus is fighting for you, too. Are you fighting for your wayward child? Keep fighting, God is working. Are you fighting for your health? Nothing is impossible with God.
And that vacation….yes, it showered a few times. But we reconnected as a family and enjoyed God’s great creation. We laughed, swam and played in the sand. And once, we even biked…in the rain.
Dear Lord God, thank you for being in our corner. Thank you for interceding for us. We need you, all of the time. Please be with us as we fight the challenges in life, give us hope, love and encourage us. Thank you Jesus, for interceding for us. Amen
