Stand firm, and you will win life.
So, did you make a New Year’s resolution? I usually do. But this year I haven’t really defined any specific goal…I know one thing, I am making more of an effort to CHOOSE joy.
It’s a little strange. It seems to me like a lot of people were not sad to say goodbye to 2016. While I am grateful for God’s provisions and protection, it was a difficult year and I am kind of pleased to put it behind me.
I am bound and determined to make the most of 2017! Who doesn’t want to experience joy and peace? However, in most situations, it’s something we have to choose. A new friend and neighbor helped me to realize that recently. It’s a choice. In the midst of-fill in the blank- stress, we can choose to have joy. It’s not necessarily a feeling.
We Christians have a job to do. We can’t be weaklings. How can we win people over if we barely get through our days looking miserable and stressed out? I know, you say…”but you don’t know what’s on my plate!” And you’re right. I’ve had my own to deal with but I know that there is always someone dealing with more than I have.
I urge you to pray for our new leaders as they take office. I urge you to pray for our country and its people to turn back to God. I urge you to make God and His word a part of your day so you can be strong and put on the armour. Refuse to lose the battle.
In the above scripture, Jesus was talking to people about trials in the last days. We don’t know when that is, but many think we could be in them now or close to it. All the more reason to strengthen your spiritual life and stand firm in your faith. He tells us exactly what to do, be strong and courageous.
God promised to protect us. He promised to send his angels to guard us. But we have to do our part and ‘spiritually exercise’….read His word. Get fit and strong in your faith. Run this race with endurance. Don’t give up. Choose joy! Commit to making 2017 dedicated to God. Stand firm! And experience life more abundantly. Refuse to lose…and you’ll win…LIFE.
Dear God, We dedicate this new year to you. We pray that you would be with our newly elected leaders and help them to seek you in all decision to be made. We pray that you’d help us to get spiritually fit and shine your light for all to see. Amen
