29 “Many women do noble things but, you surpass them all.” 30 Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Growing up, my mom cooked a homemade, complete meal every single night. It was pork chop night. I sat there confused because mom picked at the meat left from our bones. I asked her if she liked her pork chops that way. After I became a mom, I understood…
I was the 3rd child of four. There are 15 years between number one and four. So, my brother was in college when I was about 8 years old. Looking back, we had a perfectly balanced meal every night, rarely ate out and ate together as a family most evenings. This was a ministry. Right in our own home.
My mom is the Proverbs 31 woman. She is selfless, warm, hospitable, can cook and bake like you would not believe…she’s loving and caring and gives unbiased advice. She is a prayer warrior and has displayed faith, patience and beauty at all times. She was and is what I wanted to become.
Even the night we brought our first son home, I called her for advice. I just called her today for some advice on that same child who is now 17 years old! She always listens.
My mom is strong. She has persevered through some serious medical issues. Never gave up, fought through it all, never complaining. I am very fortunate to have her.
The problem is, I literally cannot be what she is. She’s one of a kind. I think she is just one of those special people that just don’t happen too often. And for a long time, I struggled with guilt, thinking…”mom would’ve never said that” or “mom would’ve never done that” or “mom would’ve never fed us that”… but God gently reminds me that there’s some of my mom in me….especially, on pork chop night.
Celebrate the special woman in your life this weekend. Take the time to make them feel special and appreciated!
Love you mom! Thanks for your countless sacrifices and for modeling what it is to be a Godly woman. If I’m half the woman you are, I am blessed.
God, thank you for my Mom. Bless her incredibly. Help her to feel appreciated and loved and to know that her sacrifices were noticed. Amen
